The Bexley Interfaith Forum was recently re-launched just over a year ago. Its objectives are to foster the building of relationship and mutual understanding between people of different faith traditions. The Bexley Interfaith Forum meets about once every 3 months at a different venue – often at a worship centre – and seeks to include and hear the voices of all faith traditions present at each of its gatherings. Latest update from our meeting on the 8th March 2018 The Bexley Interfaith Forum enable people of different faith traditions across the Borough to meet, to build friendships, and develop a greater understanding of each–others faith traditions. Picture1 It was amazing to see so many faith traditions represented at the most recent Bexley Interfaith Forum hosted by Rev Paul Prentice at St Paulinus Church (Church of England) which is more than 1,000 years old and one of the oldest and most historic places of worship in Bexley Borough. St-Paulinus-Church-Crayford-p.jpg To read more about St Paulinus Church of England please visit: http://stpaulinus.co.uk The attendance at St Paulinus from across the faith traditions was the best yet with representation from Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, Jews, and various Christian denominations including the Roman Catholic Church. It was also good to see the Police represented who intend to join us for future such gatherings. The next Bexley Interfaith Forum will be held on Thursday 21st June7.30pm at The Roman Catholic Church – Our Lady of the Angels in Erith. Following the first meeting, Rev Trevor Wyatt, Vicar of Christ Church Bexleyheath and Chair of Bexley Interfaith Forum said: “The evening was a very uplifting experience for everyone who attended. We went into the worship space where the Sikh faith tradition was explained to us, and there was then the opportunity for questions and answers. Throughout the evening we were able to talk together and build friendships. He continued: “Building relationships with people of other faiths is just another way we can help enrich our communities. You may not have a Sikh gurdwara or mosque where you live, but maybe through your work or your child’s school you will meet someone of another faith. Engaging as a Christian in interfaith work is about us loving and meeting our neighbour.” There are currently 72 people on the mailing list for the Bexley Interfaith Forum from across the various faith traditions in Bexley Borough. A ‘Steering Group’ has now also been formulated, with one representative from each major faith tradition in the Bexley Borough. The “Steering Group” will meet separately to the Forum, to plan future events and activities If you would like to know more about the activities of the Bexley Interfaith Forum and what we do please visit “Our next Meeting” section on our website or you can email us at bexleyinterfaith@gmail.com Thank you for visiting!!!
